Hello again Parents,
I hope your child is enjoying their first few weeks as much as I am enjoying having them! One of the main focuses in our classroom right now is starting our reading program. Your children are being assessed to find out what reading level they are on, and this will determine a lot of things for them this school year. I want you child to be the best reader that they can be, so I have provided you with a couple of websites that you may find helpful:
http://www.ed.gov/parents/read/resources/edpicks.jhtml
http://www.reading.org/resources/tools/parent.html
http://school.familyeducation.com/reading/early-learning/38326.html
Please let me know if you have any questions or if you know of any other resources that you have found to be helpful in the past. Thanks so much for your support!

First Day of School
Hello Parents!
Please reply to this post once you have had an opportunity to check out this page! I am using this blog as an information and communication tool. I want you to know what your students are learning so that you can help to continue their education at home. I would love any input from you: activity ideas, field trip opportunities, book suggestions, etc.
Today the class went over our "agreements" for our classroom behavior. Central Elementary School functions on a policy of respectful, responsible, and safe. We discussed what these words mean, and how they should affect our behavior, but your child may still be curious about what these things mean. Feel free to elaborate on each of them so we are all clear on the classroom expectations!
I am looking for parent volunteers to assist with reading groups. If you have free time from 10:00am - 11:00am on the weekdays and would be interested, please send a note with your son or daughter.
Hope to hear from you all soon,
Miss Coble
